One pilot. Two drones. One standard.

LightRay Imaging started because I was tired of seeing drone services that promised the earth and delivered a few JPEGs and an invoice.

I'm a CAA-registered remote pilot based in Milton Keynes. I fly drones for a living and I take it seriously.

I'm completing my A2 Certificate of Competency, and I carry £1M commercial public liability cover with FPV UK (Sportscover Europe). I'll be on site for your job — every time.

Primary survey platform

This drone does the heavy lifting: thermal surveys, mapping and detailed inspections. The 640 × 512 radiometric sensor and laser rangefinder are what separate survey work from photography.

How we work

We would rather lose a booking than deliver something we are not proud of.

We do not subcontract. When you book, I will be the pilot on site. We will tell you honestly if a job is not suitable for a drone, or if a cheaper alternative would do the same job.

That means we sometimes talk ourselves out of work. We are comfortable with that — it is the reason clients come back.

When a drone is not the right tool

Intrusive inspections that need physical access — cavity walls, internal voids
Sites where take-off, landing or overflight permissions cannot be obtained safely
Single small defects where a ladder check is genuinely quicker and cheaper
Anything we cannot fly within CAA rules — no exceptions, even if asked
